I am now about 5 months out from the founding of Blankets of Love South Bay.  It was a slow start but that’s to be expected.  Nothing of ‘lasting’ value begins like a rocket ship (think Pokemon Go)……

My first few knitting sessions at the Jocelyn Center on Tuesdays at 3:30 were somewhat sparse.  In fact, one of them saw only ME by myself, crocheting my heart out, alone.  Sigh.  I felt so forlorn.  But then a miracle.  The Beach Reporter contacted me and did a story about Blankets of Love South Bay on August 18th.  It was a nudge that has proven to be very positive.  Now, most knitting sessions on Tuesday at 3:30 at the Jocelyn Center see a minimum of 7 or 8.  I am not alone!  Life is Great!

Through the outreach in the Beach Reporter, the American Martyr’s Sunday bulletin, the MB Senior Bulletin and word of mouth, things are really beginning take off.  I am more than pleased.  I am humbled and honored.  I am thankful that Justin’s story appeals to so many strangers and friends.  And, I am SO hopeful for the future of this cause.

But really, what I have found is that I truly like and admire the women that have come to knit and crochet with me at the Jocelyn Center on Tuesdays.  We are a varied group who enjoy each other and spend time in our craft but also spend the time chatting about a range of topics from families and children, to travel, to faith, to our backgrounds, to our hobbies, to our past careers, just to name a few.  It has turned into an amazing and fun pastime with new friends who have been looking for a cause to create for and I am so honored that they have chosen to help Blankets of Love South Bay.

Again, I feel so humble, so happy, so blessed and so honored to be the creator of this wonderful time.  I welcome ALL who want to join us in our fun and friendly time at the Jocelyn Center on Tuesdays from 3:30-5:00.  I guarantee you will be so glad you came and you will feel truly welcome.
